Get Off The Stage

Casi cada persona con la que me he encontrado últimamente me hizo algún comentario sobre la posible visita de los Rolling Stones a la Argentina el año que viene. Inclusive me lo ha comentado con bastante emoción gente a la que no le conocía ningún interés por los Stones. Muchos parecieron sorprenderse porque yo no mostré ningún interés ni ninguna expectativa por la supuesta visita a pesar de lo mucho que me gustan. Pero es precisamente por lo mucho que me gustan los Stones que no puedo mostrar mucho interés en verlos en vivo, al menos en verlos en vivo ahora.
A cualquiera que tenga alguna expectativa sobre una hipotética visita de los Stones le diría que escuche "Simpathy for the Devil" en la versión del Rock and Roll Circus, o la impresionante versión de "Midnight Rambler" del igualmente genial Get Your Ya-Ya's Out o que miren Gimme Shelter (prestándole particular atención a ese terrible comienzo con "Jumpin' Jack Flash") y que se pregunten sinceramente si esperarían al menos la mitad de eso de un show de los Stones de ahora. Si todavía tienen alguna duda deberían escuchar el insoportable Flashpoint para poder oir algunas de las peores versiones posibles (tal vez en el Live Licks haya peores pero no me moleste en escucharlo y no creo que vaya a hacerlo) de varios clásicos (la versión de ese disco de "Simpathy..." es la peor que se grabó). Pocas veces se vio a una banda haciendo mierda de semejante manera sus propios temas y es porque me gustan esos temas de los Stones que no iría a ver a esa banda que sigue tocando haciéndose llamar The Rolling Stones.

Como si destruir sus propios temas no les alcanzara, se han dedicado a deshacer alguna que otra canción ajena y verlos en vivo sería asistir a la peor masacre de un tema de Dylan que se haya cometido. Sí, estoy hablando de "Like a Rolling Stone" que ellos tocan como si fuera un homenaje a ellos y no una canción con una de las letra más maliciosas y crueles de la historia. Parecería que no se dieron cuenta de que la letra habla de alguien que vive como una piedra rodante pero no por propia voluntad. De alguien que alguna vez estuvo bien pero ahora está caido y Dylan disfruta esto con el mayor de los resentimientos. Y la canción parece de repente que sí hubiera sido escritas para ellos, pero sigue sin parecer un homenaje.
Y porque siempre que se pueda citar a Morrissey es mejor hacerlo, hay que decir que todo esto Mozz ya lo dijo en "Get off the Stage" que aunque no lo haya admitido está dedicada a Jagger :
